Haul: My Pretty Zombie Cosmetics.

I finally did it!

I've been following My Pretty Zombie (MPZ) for what feels like FOREVER!!! Has taken me so damn long to place an order due to me being so indecisive... The vast selection doesn't make it easier.

But enough about that, here's what I got:

Click picture to go to MPZ's page.
- SNAP Cats pin, because I had to... This was actually the reason I finally got some stuff... Nothing like a charity pin to suck me in.
- 1 full size shadow in the shade Varicose, which is GORGEOUS! I've already used a few of the items from this order.
- 2 samples of Dr.Pickles Miraculous Beauty Dust, Green & Pink.
- 3 sample eyeshadows in the shades Static, Garnish and C'mon doll boy, dance. (I mainly got samples as I had not tried anything from thins company before)

In addition to my order I was sent a few more samples and cute stuff like the Kittie seen in the picture, yay! 🙌🎉👏
(You wouldn't know I have a dog from the ridiculous amounts of cat items I have....)

So yeah, that's it for now!
I will be doing some comparison swatches on finishes, similar shades and performance once I've had a chance to use everything. Time has just been vanishing the past months and I'm currently getting back into the swing of things.

Life and blog update to follow in the coming month as I try to set a scheduled for content and don't worry, I'm not pregnant, sick or anything bad, I'm just finding balance in life. 😊

Make sure to keep an eye on my Instagram (@cynthiaiskillikill) as I'll be posting looks using these products in the coming weeks as well as loads of other new goodies I'm trying out.

Catching up with life! Done!

Oh hello there!

I know I've been inactive lately and I've just needed a couple of weeks to catch up on a lot of life I missed during my recovery.
I will resume my make-up shenanigans starting Monday!

Woho!!!

I've missed it so much!!!
But had lots of less fun things to deal with such as cleaning, home improvements, paperwork and everything else that comes with not being able to move for a while.

So just wanted to share that.

See you soon!
❤❤❤

New IG Account: Fashion. Buy less, make it last.

I finally decided to make a fashion account on Instagram.
It will follow my ethical fashion transition as I'm going to be doing a wardrobe detox and only keep items I will actually look good in and feel comfortable in at all times.

The goal being a core wardrobe with practical accessories.
I will from now on only buy vintage/second hand, eco friendly and when I get tired of something take it to a tailor for suggestions on what to do with it or donate.

I'm so excited about this!

Over the past 10 years I've gone from 3 double wardrobes of clothes and a wall of shoes (I had a problem, pretty sure it was more) to a wardrobe that now fits in one suitcase. Moving a lot has put my consuming ways into perspective and I don't feel the urge to buy new things every week.
It's a very freeing feeling.

Follow my new account @cikstyles.
I don't have any pictures yet as I unfortunately am stuck in bed due to some post operation problems which had to be taken care of yesterday, I'm fine but very tender.

Anyhow!
Hope to see you around!

Haul/Review: Lethal Cosmetics.

Lethal Cosmetics:

What we are all about

Lethal Cosmetics is an independent, PETA-certified vegan and cruelty-free makeup brand from Berlin, Germany. We formulate, produce and distribute professional-quality color cosmetics for an alternative audience of ethical makeup-addicts. Founded in 2016, our initial product offering includes our signature CHIMERA™ long-lasting liquid lipsticks in six deviant metallic and matte shades as well as our lineup of ultra-pigmented pressed eyeshadows. Our products are available in the EU, UK and Switzerland through lethalcosmetics.com and soon in other countries via our own- and our partner stores.
US shipping coming August.
*taken from their site.
Been wanting to try this brand for a while and their new matte collection really spoke to me.
The whole order came very well packed, everything arrived safely even though my parcel went from Germany to Sussex and then to me here in Livingstone, Zambia. It came in a well sized box which I really appreciate as I have to pay for my parcels based on weight.

Shadows left to right:
Remedy, Release, Remission and Relapse.
The one down side about the packaging is the shadows.
I broke/cracked two of my shadows (Remedy and Remission) pulling them off the glue blob they are attached to. After the second shadow I got a hang of it and realized that twisting them off is the best way... I do wish the glue wasn't part of the packaging.

As for the performance of the shadows:
I highly recommend using eyeshadow primer for these and soft brushes. They're all very powdery and preform best patted on to the eye rather then swept on.

To my surprise I love Remission as a shadow and blush, it stays on very well and is easy to build up no matter the base you're using. I wasn't impressed by the swatches and didn't care for it at all until I tried it.

Remedy is a very pigmented shadow, looks beautiful on.
Great as liner which has been my favorite way of using it this week.

Release is the weakest in the bunch but is great for a soft smokey eye and as a liner. It's buildable not really patchy, it's just faint.

Relapse is the star of this collection.
I absolutely LOVE this shade.
It's not the most pigmented shadow but it's so beautiful.
This whole collection is such a good set to spice up your daily looks. I've been using these to add a pop of colour in conjunction with my Kat Con D Shade + Light Eye Palette.

Chimera Liquid Lipstick in Unforgiven.
I love this shade.
It is really different on me, dries down completely to a powder feel which doesn't feel too dry or like your lips are going to crack.

Using all my new goodies, full details will be up on my Instagram @cynthiaiskillikill

All round happy with my first order.
I'm always happy to see vegan companies who make less traditional colours. I really hope their success continues and that I don't break more of their pretty things! 😂

Swatches/Haul: Colour Pop, Lubov Cosmetics, Essence and L.A. Girl.

Finally back!
Took a while after my surgery to get into the groove of things, I didn't realize just how much I missed make-up until I sat down and did a look.

I used lots of items from this post in my most recent look which can be seen on Instagram @cynthiaiskillikill.

Some of my loot from my quick Drugstore visit in SA.
I don't know why I've waited for so long to try colour correcting, it actually worked really well for me.

For months upon months I've been eyeing the pretty creations of @lubovcosmetics and I finally decided to get myself a few bits for my birthday! Zero regrets. And I even got a GWP, the amazing glitter.
Be still my heart. 💖

And finally swatches of my ColourPop goodies.
I don't think I'll be ordering for a while as I feel like my collection is very well rounded and I've gotten a good idea of what this brand offers. I was really disappointed by the lipstick wand, it was too wide, fluffy and absorbed way too much product. My lipstick didn't dry at all using the wand so I highly recommend a lip brush if you want any precision.
Great value for money nonetheless but completely put off from the lipsticks.

Haul: Quick Drugstore raid.

It's funny how things work out...
Since I got to Zambia I've been telling my in-laws that I'll visit them as a birthday treat for myself and do some shopping while I'm there.

Well, I did.
Not under the most pleasant circumstances but it happened and it was great seeing them even though they only left a month ago from their vacation with us.

So I managed to do a quick drugstore visit before my pain wouldn't allow me to walk any more and here is what I got!

I got a few bits from Essence Cosmetics and L.A. Girl Cosmetics, it was actually not many cruelty free brands available.

From LA Girl Cosmetics I got the Pro Conceal in Natural.

From Essence Cosmetics I got nail files, a concealing duo and a few things I've never bothered with before: Make-up setting spray and a few correctors.

Also got an empty spray bottle which I'll be using to experiment with making facial mists and another bottle to mix some toner in.

And that was it for the beauty bits!
Got loads of food/kitchen stuff but that's for another post.

What's up with the blog.

I haven't been able to do as much content as I used to before May... In May I had my in-laws over for the month and I wanted to spend as much time as possible with them which kept me from doing regular looks. And in June I tried to get back into the swing of things, thought I was doing pretty well but this past Sunday I broke down in pain.

It was unbearable.
And on Tuesday I had emergency surgery in South Africa.
I'll be doing a few travel related posts here and on Instagram as I'm not feeling too well yet and will be here for at least one more week as I need to stay and get my stitches removed before going back home.

Surgery was successful and I didn't wake up to my horrible pain, only to the surgery pain which was a breeze compared to the old pain. Still pain though! But I got my pain meds and great company being looked after by my in-laws...
I couldn't keep away from them for too long, any excuse to see them again! 😂

Anyhow.
I'll be resting all day.
Take care!

Haul: Notoriously Morbid.

I was fortunate enough to win a gift card from Notoriously Morbid earlier this year and as we all know, gift cards are just a gateway for bigger purchases than we need (but a perfect excuse to try some new things)...
The first thing I got myself was a new Slumber Salve in the flavor/scent "Cast A Spell" (Pumpkin, Pecan and Waffle Cone).
Love the consistency of this balm.
Easter GWP! Super pretty shadow and lip balm which smells like candy. I'm the biggest sucker for lip balms, I have one in every room, in my pocket at all times, in my purse and two by my bedside table...
This beauty has me excited, can't wait to mix it with a face balm!
Swatches.
My first matte shadows from NM! I'm impressed and so happy with my selection.

More goodies! Been wanting to try NM lipsticks for a while and finally decided to go with a sample as I couldn't decide on a shade for full size... There's just too many pretty shades available!!! Need a bundle or something.
That lipstick swatch was surprisingly long lasting! I had a bath with these on and the shadows came off without a problem with soapy water but the lipstick required scrubbing.
How pretty are these?! I always order white shadows as I'm on the hunt for the best one. This seems to be the best one yet.

That's it for this round!
I'm eager to play with all these and will be posting on my Instagram (@cynthiaiskillikill) whenever I do a new look, as usual now that I'm back and recovered from the family visiting.

See you there!

My current "go-to" face. (May 2017)

I've been spending the month of May with my in-laws who were visiting for a few weeks. I have no idea where time went and I was constantly drained from too much happiness which is why it has been a bit quiet from me.

During this time I got the Kat Von D Beauty Shade + Light eye palette and I've been OBSESSED! I never really saw it as much, I saw it as an over hyped palette, just the way I felt about the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

Anyhow, I'll stop myself from a rant right now and share with you what my daily combo has been for the month of May with alternating shimmers.
Shadows from the Shade + Light Palette unless mentioned otherwise. Full face details will be on my Instagram @cynthiaiskillikill.

Start: Prime lids and along the lower lash line, pat gently up to the brow bone.
(Nail wraps are Chainmail by Espionage Cosmetics)
Apply Laetus from the crease up to the brow bone with a pointed fluffy brush. Apply Ludwin using the same brush along the hollow of the eye.
Apply Samael on the outer V and along the lower lash line using a smaller pointed fluffy brush.
*Making sure I'm on the right track*
Apply Succubus with the brush used for the previous shade in the crease and lower lash line.
Optional: Apply Shax along the lashes with a thin/flat brush, gently smudge any leftover along the lower lash line. It doesn't need to be perfect. Use eyeliner/liquid liner for a more dramatic look as a finisher, this will however do the job for a day look.
Now, I don't blend my shadows until this step. Apply Latinus from the crease blending downwards with a domed fluffy brush. Don't forget the lower lash line. Using the same brush apply Lucius between the brow bone and crease to fade any harsh lines.
Inner corner pop using LoS pressed shadow from the DPS palette by Espionage Cosmetics (now available for preorder!!!).
From F.A.I.R. Beauty Cosmetics apply Playful Pixie on the inner half of the lid and Blazing Unicorn on the outer lid for a subtle gradient.
Lash curling and mascara, using Still Cosmetics Stay All Day Waterproof Volumizing Mascara here.
And done!

Haul: Acciolove and Spectral Spirits.

Mail!
Been so excited for these two orders!!!

My loot!
My order second of nail decals from Acciolove!
The awesome Fay did include two extras for me which were the candies and the varsity font. She is unfortunately closed for a couple of months as she will be rebranding but for now she has kept her name on Etsy so make sure to give her a follow to see what newness she'll come out with once she's back!
Etsy store: Acciolovecrafts.
My favorites, which deserve their own picture.
Can't wait to do cute nails with these!!!
My first and much anticipated order from Spectral Spirits arrived this week and I'm so happy with my order!
Click picture to get to shop.
Everything came really well wrapped which is much appreciated as my order traveled half across the world. I know the gloss tubes will be replaced and I did have a tiny bit of leaking when it was laying down but other than that everything's been great without accidents.

So, my Spectral Spirits order consisted of:
One Butter Bomb in the fragrance Cerberus
(Brown Sugar, Aromatic Spices, Madagascar Vanilla, Dark Musk, Black Amber)
Two Liquid Glass in Cherry Lemon (yum!)
One Lip Scrub in Lavender Peach Cobbler
(French lavender and warm juicy peaches with a hint of lemon in a crumbly cobbler crust.)
Three Dusting Powders in the following fragrances:
Jezebel
(Meyer Lemon, Pink Grapefruit, Strawberry, Raspberry, Black Plum, Dewberry, Blackberry, Pink Musk)
Dryad
(White Pine, Spruce Pine, Moroccan Cedar, Spanish Moss, Prairie Grass, Oak Moss, Fresh Earth, Fallen Leaves )
Nirvana
(Bamboo, Green Tea, Yuzu, Pale Woods, Vetiver, Cucumber Peels, Freshly Trimmed Wheat Grass)

I also got a sample I'm really excited about, it's one of the new perfumes, The White Lady. Which has so many of my favorite notes!
(Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Gardenia, Lily of the Valley, Bergamot, Linden Blossom, Tuberose, Honeysuckle, Dark Narcissus, Musk)

Everything from Spectral Spirits is Cruelty free and vegan.

In My Stash: Highlighters (some of them)

So as I can't do much with make-up right now due to a cold I have been going through my stash and just doing some tidying up and cleaning.

And today I wanted to swatch some of my highlighters.
Some of these are shadows and some are also discontinued/limited editions, sorry.

Swatched in natural daylight indoors and in the sun, half primed and done with my fingers. I did go in a bit intense on a few of these but they've all been worn as highlighters and look lovely blended out properly.
Primer used: Absolute New York Eyeshadow Primer.

Haul: Trying some new basics.

I've been in desperate need for a new deodorant since my husband started using my natural aluminum free one from Dirty Hippie Cosmetics, which lasted me for 8 whole months (big tin).
I didn't order it again as I'm curious to see what's out there, I love my previous one and will absolutely repurchase it at a later time but for now I'm looking around as the selection of aluminium free deodorants has increased, finally.

My pits have been free from baddies for 3-4 years.
I always struggled with in grown hairs, itchy and dry pits.
Then I began my clean beauty journey and dove into the not so impressive selection of "good deodorants".

Long story short: my pits have been happy since I switched to natural/aluminum and alcohol free pit products.

Now you know a bit more about my pits than you thought you would at the start of this ey? Not sorry, if I can help one poor itchy soul then my work is done.

Haul time!
(Finally!!!)

Let's do the pit stuff first.
I got Green People Natural Deodorant in the scent Aloe Vera and Jason Unscented Naturally Fresh for Men... I got a bunch for the husband as he's a bit picky and this one I'll probably keep to myself as it was the only unscented deo in the online store and I hate the idea of my pits smelling more than my perfume.

My previous mascara is turning 6 months so I had to get a new one. I really liked my previous one (Autograph Aqua Proof by Mark's and Spencer) but now that Stila has been acquired by a new parent company and is officially cruelty free I just had to try at least one product this order. I've always been a fan of the simplicity in beauty that Stila has promoted, for years! I remember seeing this brand for the first time in my early teens watching the E! Channel and they were showing the then amazing click lip glosses! I'm happy to see a company going cruelty free... The opposite is far too common...

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Volumizing Mascara.

And finally my Pixi Glow kit!
I mainly ordered this for the Glow Booster as I was running low on a glowy base. I'm however really happy with this kit. It will definitely be used daily and I like the size of the products. It's just the right amount of each thing. I hate when kits have too much and too little... I'm picky about kits. This one hit my Goldilocks spot.

The Hello Glow Kit by Pixi.

Love this type of applicators!!! For me it absolutely has to be this type or the brush tip... I'm hopeless with any other applicators... Absolutely hopeless.
Swatches, forgot the Glow Booster primer...

That's all for now.
Make sure to follow me on Instagram @cynthiaiskillikill as I'll no doubt be using these goodies be soon.

Haul & first impressions: ColourPop and F.A.I.R. Beauty Cosmetics.

They're here!

It has taken me quite a while to take the leap into the world of ColourPop. I feel like they've had some nice things but never really anything which made me feel the need to order, I still feel a bit like that but my curiosity got the better of me and then there's @alicesbeautymadness who finally made me do it.
I got myself the Lo-Key collection/palette and the Lippie To Go kit in Hot To Trot.
I will not be swatching the Lippie To Go kit as I'm lazy, the honest truth.

All shadows are swatched over Zodiac Killer Cosmetics Gravity Primer.

My first impression is that these are good.
I did swatch these with my finger over primed skin and I feel like they preformed well. I'm overall happy with what I got but I don't think I'll be getting any more shadows from ColourPop simply because I get overwhelmed by the selection and it's all quite similar. I'm planing to get the Kat Von D shade + Light palette (and the Pastel Goth) and can't see myself needing more neutrals beyond that. I will however get a few mattes from Devinah Cosmetics as her recent collection looks amazing.

I do love the Lippie sticks!
So I might get a few of those and some liners once I've worked my way through the ones I got. They feel surprisingly good and the colour selection in the Hot to Trot set was great!

But moving on to some magical shimmer!
I'm a long time fan of F.A.I.R. Beauty Cosmetics, every shadow I have from her is great. Primer is a must for the intensity seen below. So here's what I got this time round:

A suggestion when using these pressed shadows is to only dab with the brush into the pan, never swirl. They're delicate and can crumble/kick up. They are just beautiful.
She also snuck in a glitter for me which I'm so very excited about!!!
Been eyeing this one for ages but as I had gold glitters I decided not to.
But it's really different from my other ones! It's finer than Espionage cosmetics glitters but bigger than Sugarpill Goldilux. And it has some holo specks.
Thank you Kim! 💖

Preview: Espionage Cosmetics pressed shadows!

Click picture to sign up for news about the RPG palette!

I was sent a few of the new pressed shadows Espionage Cosmetics will be launching soon and I'm so excited to be sharing looks in the coming weeks using them!

Today I'll be sharing the first look featuring a few of the retired loose shadows and one lip serum.

Here's the look:

Product details:

On my face I used Dirty Hippie Cosmetics Hemp Seed & Red Raspberry Primer for a hydrated base. I used foundation which I don't normally do but I have a few pumps left of it and thought I would use it instead of wasting it. I used Jordana Cosmetics Oil-Free Foundation in Natural. For my blush I used a mix of Espionage Cosmetics loose shadows Mrs.Reynolds and Tokyo Rose and added a soft touch of Karei for a subtle contour under my cheek bones. The nice glowy highlighter used on my cheek bones, brow bone, nose and Cupid's bow is one of the new pressed shadows, LoS, which is a beautiful white sheen.

On my lips I'm wearing Kiss of Death Lip Serum in Venom mixed with Tokyo Rose and Mrs.Reynolds.

Eye guide:

I prepped my eye using my favorite eyeshadow primer, Gravity Primer by Zodiac Killer Cosmetics.
1. Using Mrs.Reynolds with a fluffy eyeshadow brush I went from the brow bone down to my eyelids for a soft rosy sheen.
2. With a slightly smaller fluffy brush I applied Karei in the crease blending towards the inner corner.
3. Highlight time using LoS with a smaller and easier to control brush along the brow bone and packing it on in the inner corner.
4. Under the eye and on the inner 1/3 of the lid I blended LoS and XP, intensely blended with a dash of Riveting.
5. Using a dense shadow brush I applied XP on the lower part of my inner corner and also on the outer 2/3 of my lid blending back and forth to snag some of the magic of the unnamed...
6. With a wet eyeliner brush (or any detailing brush) I applied my new favorite EC shadow as an eyeliner, it's called DPS and is the perfect substitute for Eridium and Vault Hunter, which were two of my favorites of the retired shadows. I've almost finished both so I'm very happy about this new purple awesomeness.
